The best way to learn dances is generally to get up and try them under the guidance of a dance caller. ATBDS dances are called and usually include a ‘walk through’ before each dance starts. In addition, we have a reputation for being a friendly and welcoming group, and our more experienced members are able to offer guidance during a dance.
The purpose of the links on this page is to serve as guides and refreshers. Watching with the sound muted can also help you to focus on the pattern of a dance. Note too that these dances are a small sample of the variety of dances we do.

If you need to slow down a video to fully grasp a movement, click on the Settings (cog) icon at the bottom right of the YouTube screen to reveal that and other options.
Note
Within Australia (and internationally) several different versions of a dance can evolve down the years. The versions shown in these videos have been chosen to be as similar as possible to those ATBDS members do. Even if they are not exactly the same, they still provide a clear picture of the basic patterns of the dances.
